This Week

This week Lawro takes on Jack Keating, who is currently at the top of his league having only lost one head to head matchup this season. Jack is now in his third season as a Real Fantasy Football manager and reckons he has got it nailed.

Saturday 5th November

Man City Vs Middlesbrough 15:00

City will be full of confidence after their mid-week display against Barcelona and I expect them to put Boro to the sword at the Etihad. With the numerous attacking weapons they have at their disposal I think this one will be over by half time. Aguero owners; expect another huge return!

Challenger's Prediction: 4-0

Coming off the back of two wins, expect a very confident home side, Gundogan is playing in a more advance role and is reaping the benefits. Middlesbrough will set themselves out to try and frustrate City but have struggled to provide ample service to Negrado who is looking more and more lost for them. With an international break coming up City will look to put out a very strong side and go into the break on top of the league.

Lawro’s Prediction: 4-0

Burnley Vs Crystal Palace        15:00

Burnley have been very solid at Turf Moor this season collecting 10 points out of a possible 18. Palace on the other hand have been much better on the road than at Selhurst Park. I’m predicting a close, tense, encounter that will end in a 1-1 draw.

Challenger's Prediction: 0-0

The clarets have proved they are difficult to break down and Tom Heaton’s stock has never been higher, his performance against Man United last week will mean he goes into this fixture full of confidence. Pardew’s Palace though, go into this game on the back of scoring 11 goals in their past 5 games and the 6th best attacking record in the league so should give the Burnley defence a challenge. Overall though, palace have lost their last 3 games so I can see a tight game with the home side edging it.

Lawro’s Prediction: 1-0

West Ham Vs Stoke City 15:00

Two sides who endured atrocious starts to the season but who have now begun to find their feet. Mark Hughes has got Stoke playing again and three straight wins have seen them rise to 12th in the table. Wee Joe Allen has been in great goal scoring form and has provided the goals many of us expected Bony to be delivering. Prior to their 2-0 defeat away at Everton West Ham had also put together three straight wins and they will be looking to bounce back infront of their own fans. A tight contest and one that will end in a draw for me.

Challenger's Prediction: 1-1

Stoke currently sit 7th in the form league with three straight wins for the Potters, West Ham sit near the bottom of the league and appear to be a shadow of the team from last season. Can Payet and co turn things around against a team that finally look like they have clicked, probably not, they still seem to struggle at their new home and I see this continuing this week.

Lawro’s Prediction: 1-2

Bournemouth Vs Sunderland         15:00

Bournemouth have looked an improved side over the last five games picking up eight points in the process. They have managed wins over Everton and Hull and held Tottenham to 0-0. Sunderland on the other hand appear doomed. An 8 minute implosion against Arsenal last weekend really summed up their current fortunes and manager Moyes is heavy favourite with the bookies to be next for the chop. I expect Bournemouth to run out comfortable winners and poor David to be collecting his latest P45 on Monday morning.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-0

Bournemouth should look to bounce straight back from their defeat against Sunderland’s neighbours last week and put this woeful Sunderland team to the sword. Sunderland have covered the least amount of ground by a team this season according to OPTA and look like a side that can’t be bothered. Big Sam can’t be far off a return to football.

Lawro’s Prediction: 3-1

Chelsea Vs Everton 17:30

Everton’s away form has been patchy to say the least this season. They picked up a great point away at City but have sandwiched that with losses to Burnley and Bournemouth. Chelsea under Conte have been extremely impressive at Stamford Bridge and turned Mourinhos much hyped return into an embarrassment. Koeman will certainly have his side ready and I expect them to give Chelsea a better game than United did but I do see the blues coming out on top.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-1

This isn’t exactly the most exciting match of the weekend but I expect Stoke to have just too much against a side that will be reeling from conceding six last time out. Especially if Joe Allen can’t stop scoring!

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-1

Sunday 23rd October

Arsenal Vs Tottenham    12:00

A North London derby that’s likely to be as feisty as ever with both teams firmly believing they’re in with a chance at winning the title this year. I think it’s a game that neither team will want to lose and therefore it could well be a cagey affair. I imagine both sets of fans would take a point and that’s exactly what I expect will happen. The two previous meetings between the sides have ended 1-1 and I see that becoming three in a row.

Challenger's Prediction: 1-1

The North London Derby is always a difficult one to predict and although the expected return of Harry Kane this week should bolster Spurs’ hopes, I can’t see past a home win. Arsenal are starting to show a bit of grit and Mesut Ozil’s current wonderful form will surely be too much for the away side to handle.

Lawro’s Prediction: 2-0

Hull City Vs Southampton                 14:15

Hull have failed to pick up a point at home since their shock opening day victory over Leicester and I don’t see that changing as they host the Saints. An excellent mid week win over former European heavyweights Inter Milan will no doubt have them playing full of confidence and I expect them to pick up the three points.

Challenger's Prediction: 0-1

Thursday nights heroics for the Saints will surely see some major changes to their starting 11 but I still see them picking up all three points against Mike Phelan’s Hull side who are on a losing streak of 6.

Lawro’s Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Watford        14:15

Klopps side have been scoring goals for fun this year and have played some great football in the process. The attacking trio of Coutinho, Mane, Firmino are firing on all cylinders and I see that continuing as they host the hornets. Liverpool are unbeaten in 13 games and have picked up maximum points in 11 of those. Whilst their fans do love saying it, this year really could be their year

Challenger's Prediction: 3-1

Liverpool have been free scoring this year and (as much as this will annoy fans from each side) are looking more and more like the Man United 1999 treble winning side, their message seems to be ‘score if you want, we’ll just score more’. Lovren has still got a mistake a game and their keeper situation fills me with no confidence though so expect goals at either end.

Lawro’s Prediction: 3-2

Swansea Vs Man United         15:00

A ground that has proved extremely difficult for United to win at in recent seasons having suffered defeat on the previous two occasions. This is not an easy fixture for United and with the players and manager under all sorts of pressure I think the bad run could well stretch on. I predict an early Swansea goal that will cause the heads to go down followed by a second as united push for an equaliser.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-1

Jose Mourinho is not currently having the start to his Manchester tenure that he would have wanted. Expect big changes from the lacklustre performance midweek, United need to do something and with Ander Hererra missing due to suspension, now could be the time for Michael Carrick to have a run in the side. Swansea have a decent record against United in the last few years but look very wobbly currently so I don’t expect too much from them. Look for the home side to frustrate Mr Mourinho for the first 60 minutes before finally being broken down and capitulating.

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-3

Leicester City Vs West Brom  16:30

Whilst Leicester have found their feet in Europe and become the first side in history to fail to concede in their opening four games, their league form has been indifferent. They do however sit third in the home table having picked up 11 points from their five games and only conceded 2 goals in the process. I predict another shut out against what isn’t a particularly strong baggies attack with them bagging a couple at the other end.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-0

Leicester seem to be slowly regaining the confidence of last season but were dealt a major blow this week as one of the pillars of their success from last season, Kasper Schemeichel broke his hand and will be out for some time. I still see them having enough to see off a poor West Brom side though who haven’t won in 5 games..

Lawro’s Prediction: 1-0
