Last Week

It was a fourth consecutive defeat for Lawro back in GW7, this time at the hands of Jake ‘Bob’ Taviner. Although Lawro got off to a lead on the Friday night game and improved his score to a paltry 4, it was not enough to challenge Jake who won convincingly thanks to correctly predicting Sunderland and the Baggies would draw 1-1. On a bright note, Lawro did manage to pull off the victory in the RFF matchup in a close 40-38 game.

This week Lawro takes on Real Fantasy Football’s latest signing; the RealFF Gaffer. You may have noticed the Gaffer’s articles popping up on the website in the last couple of weeks and they are a great read for those looking for some help and additional insight into the RFF game. The RealFF Gaffer is also available on twitter (@RealFFGaffer) to answer any questions you may have. Let’s see if his RFF knowledge can translate to score predictions.

Saturday 22nd October

Bournemouth v Spurs   12:30

Bournemouth appear to have found their attacking boots, the fact that I own Wilson in both RealFF leagues may be influencing this opinion! Spurs have a tough midweek game in the Champions League, so I’m going 1-1 in a tight affair.

Challenger's Prediction: 1-1

After hitting Hull for 6 last week, confidence will be high down on the South coast although they will face a sterner test against the team with the best defensive record in the league. Son to score the winner in a 1-0 win.

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-1

Arsenal v Middlesbrough     15:00

Theo’s on fire! Arsenal look really good right now, they’ll easily sweep aside a poor Boro defence.

Challenger's Prediction: 3-0

Out of nowhere, Theo Walcott has raced to the top of the RFF Player Points list thanks to his impressive form and 5 goals. There is no reason to suggest this will stop against Boro who begin a difficult run of fixtures. Time to offload and Boro players?

Lawro’s Prediction: 2-0

Leicester v Crystal Palace   15:00

Leicester seem to be focusing on the Champions League, with Mahrez and Slimani rested in gameweek 8. I expect them back this week, resulting in a victory. Huth and Morgan can deal with Palace’s constant aerial bombardment.

Challenger's Prediction: 1-0

Leicester now have the unusual position of having accumulated more points in Europe this season than in the League. Palace’s good run of form was brought to a halt last week against West Ham thanks to a missed penalty from Benteke. My opponent has Zaha in his team to hopefully he will have a quiet one again this week.

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-0

West Ham v Sunderland       15:00

I’m not sure Moyes lasts until xmas, he seems at a loss up in Sunderland. Payet and co look to be getting going now after a poor start; this is a great opportunity for Zaza to break his duck.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-0

West Ham should register back to back victories here against a poor Sunderland side. It may also be a chance for Antonio to rediscover his early season scoring form.

Lawro’s Prediction: 3-0

Hull v Stoke   15:00

Hull have fallen apart after a strong start, whilst Stoke appear to be finding their feet. Bony to get off the mark in a 2-0 victory.

Challenger's Prediction: 0-2

This isn’t exactly the most exciting match of the weekend but I expect Stoke to have just too much against a side that will be reeling from conceding six last time out. Especially if Joe Allen can’t stop scoring!

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-1

Swansea v Watford       15:00

I’ve picked up the fit again Borja Baston, can see him getting the start this weekend. Watford have been good so far, I’ll plump for a draw here.

Challenger's Prediction: 1-1

Swansea’s new manager is already set for a must win game against Watford. RFF managers will be hoping that he continues to play Sigurdsson as a striker after his goal scoring last week.

Lawro’s Prediction: 1-0

Burnley v Everton         12:00

I’m a Burnley fan, but without Gray I can’t see us notching against a tough Koeman defence. Everton sneak a win here. Gareth Barry to pop up with a rare strike.

Challenger's Prediction: 0-1

Everton were lucky to come away with a draw against Man City, largely thanks to ‘keeper Stekelenburg making two penalty saves. That has elevated him to Everton’s second highest points scorer, behind Lukaku and he should have a quieter afternoon against Burnley who have only scored 6 times this campaign.

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-2

Liverpool v West Brom 17:30

After a turgid game with Man Utd in GW8 the Liverpool lads will be dying to get back to their attacking best. I think Mane will be crucial here, his pace combined with Firmino and Coutinho’s class should see Liverpool past the stubborn Baggies defence.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-0

This is set up for a classic Liverpool performance. Having taken points off all the top teams, it would be typical for them to come unstuck in a fixture they are expected to win comfortably as with Burnley earlier in the year. I’m going to gamble on a 1-0 victory for the Baggies despite having less than 25% possession. Chances are it will go the other way and Liverpool will run riot.

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-1

Sunday 23rd October

Man City v Southampton     13:30

I’m hoping we finally see the excellent Sofiane Boufal make his Saints debut; him and Tadic will form a fab midfield combination. I’m giving the Saints a goal against City’s questionable backline, but De Bruyne will lead City to a tight victory.

Challenger's Prediction: 2-1

It is four games since City last won. That is hard to imagine for a team that were unstoppable at the beginning of the season. I can’t see the run stretching to 5 and hopefully for my RFF team, De Bruyne will make up for his penalty miss that nearly cost me last week.

Lawro’s Prediction: 3-1

Chelsea v Man Utd        16:00

This is a really interesting fixture given the Jose Mourinho history. I’ve gone for a draw as I’m not sure at all what will happen; the one thing I will predict is that Costa gets his fifth yellow card after successfully walking the tightrope for the last few games.

Challenger's Prediction: 1-1

Mourinho back against his former club. Expect a great big red bus to be parked at Stamford Bridge. That is despite a much more attacking display midweek.

Lawro’s Prediction: 0-0
